About Chef Crunchy

For quite a long time now I have been known as ‘Crouchy’. And if not that, Admiral Crouch, General Crouch and even Lord Crouch. For a day I genuinely got to be Captain Crouch – probably the best day so far in my quarter century of existence.

One day someone somehow mislabeled me as James Crunch on a work email. Of course they did! And predictably that has worked its way in amongst the array of honorific titles I seem to have accumulated. When it came to naming my blog, naturally I had to pay homage to one of the most underrated of my nicknames.

I’m an amateur home cook with a faux preference for haute cuisine hiding the fact that I like nothing more than to retreat into basic English cooking.

Follow my pretentious cooking preferences as I whip up 52 recipes in 2017 that I’ve never made before.

UPDATE: It is 2019 and I am still clearly updating the blog. It turned out to be too wonderful to give up. Not only does it get me to experiment in the kitchen way out of my comfort zone, it also gives me a digital cookbook. How hard can it be to cook a recipe I wrote up myself from my own experience of cooking it?
